Interview! > Terryphunk!

Who would ever think to take someone like Ghostface Killah and do a painting of him? Then take that painting and have it reproduced onto beautiful canvases and posters and sold to the public? WHO? Terryphunk dammit. That's who. Terryphunk of Phunk Records LLC toured with Ghost on the Projekt Rev tour as a designer and friend. His connection to Wu-Tang and Ghost impressed us as well as his beautiful canvases. Read on to learn a bit more about the man behind the Ghost canvases. Bung bung bung!

THE BRILLIANCE! > Terryphunk! What's good!?

TERRYPHUNK > Feelin' good, healthy, can't complain. I do wish John Elway was still playing ball.

TB! > What in the world did you have for breakfast today? I think most everyone reading this has been losing sleep over this question.

TP > A can of diet Coke.

TB! > Give us a rundown of you who you are, what you do, where you live, and who your favorite basketball player is.

TP > I'm an artist working with an extremely talented, but very undersized staff. And I love Shaq. Like KG said, "if you don't like Shaq, there is something wrong with you".

TB! > About a year ago, you along with Phunk Records LLC and Ghostface hooked up to put out a limited edition canvas print. Tell us about this, how's it going now a year after the release, and why should people buy it?

TP > It's a great piece. A true limited edition in an art gallery style. That print always brings you back to a great moment in music. Tha fact that it's authenticated by Starkie Love is tha true bonus. Its classy. Plus its on artists' grade 100% all natural cotton canvas. Stretched on wood and ready to hang!

TB! > Where do you call home and where do you work out of?

TP > Philadelphila. Private studio location.
Direct all mail to: P.O. BOX 26901, Phila, PA 19134.

TB! > The canvases have a photo-quality, rich, saturated look. What's the secret behind these? How are they produced?

TP > I keep tha resolution high. HA HA HA!!! < evil laugh

TB! > Other then your limited edition prints, who are your customers? What else have you produced besides the Ghostface one? How do you get the word out?

TP > We like to say our customers are parents enlarging baby pictures for walls in everyday houses, to houses on Cribs. You have to see it to believe tha quality. Tha custom sizes can really upgrade a room. Dorm. Studio. Hallway. Lobby. Nursery. We get tha word out by cool sites like this one and printed promotion.

TB! > What are the most popular canvases you've done to date? What's on the schedule for the next one?

TP > Custom" work for Ghost. Custom DJ Acid print. Comic books. Tha Abby. We are currently working on a huge, Clinton Portis "cut out" style print.

TB! > Tell us a bit about your relationship with Ghostface and Wu-Tang. Also - what's Ghostface like in person? Has he ever said "I'm bout to smash the world pa, you need to stay in school. Bung bung bung" to your face?

TP > It's all about respect and business. It's a real honor to roll with that camp.

Yo, Ghost is tha nicest dude man. He's real. On tha mic, he's untouchable.

TB! > What are your goals for the canvases a year from now? 5 years?

TP > Limited edition prints for tha world. Only serious artist need apply. But, at tha same time staying true and turning wallet pictures into wall fixtures. Lets hope tha planet is here in 5.

TB! > If you could organize a concert and have the freedom to pick 5 bands/musicians, dead or alive, who would they be?

TP > Wutang with Dirty, Beastie Boys, House of Pain, Mike Skinner of THE STREETS, and Shyheim.

TB! > Do you have a favorite artist or designer? How about a favorite brand or two?

TP > J. Scott Campbell, that Thundercats stuff. Kangaroos.

TB! > What is your favorite city in the world?

TP > I love NYC and "Cleve" land.

TB! > Where did the name Terryphunk come from and why do I have to type it as one word?

TP > Its an alias, for another alias, for another. I was in tha process of finishing an album and it just stuck.
Now we just use it for everything. Canvas. Design. Production. Beats.

TB! > Besides Ghost, who is your favorite Wu member?

TP > Bob Digi

TB! > Any last and final words before I go back and edit your entire interview, changing your answers to lyrics from Supreme Clientele?

TP > Wow, that's super funny. That is an awesome way to ask a question. Look out for a hit record coming out of Phunk Records.

TB! > Shout-outs? Thanks? Shout-outs is such a funny term.

TP > Watson, Jen at JW Photograpy, and DIS1, tha ill Phunk Records staff. Live from tha sec. Left fielder Vince Coleman.

TB! > What do you think of THE BRILLIANCE!?

TP > I keep checking out what you guys put up next. I enjoy tha arts. It's done very well. So smart.

TB! > Thanks!

TP > Thank you very much for your time. There's not much of it any more.
